How can a novel make your character? How much influence can it have on your thinking? Frankly saying I have not come across any study(Which nowadays happen a dozen a day, when one study say that Alcohol is bad for your health, the next day another will say that wine makes you live longer :-) ) on this subject. But if I think about myself three novels have deep impact on my personality. First and foremost is Anurdhar Dex(Meaning the land of Anuradha), an Assamese Novel. It is about a Petroleum Engineer whose search of love takes him to a girl far away from his land and finds her nestled and troubled by the past but whose loves of life make her an epitome of love (I think I have got my Anuradha..now dont ask who she is!)..This novel shaped my attitude towards love.
The second novel is Basudev Bhattacharya's 'Rain through the Night', which shaped my attitudes towards man-woman relationship. And the last and foremost is Ayn Rands 'Fountainhead'.
