I had a long long vacation and came back from home on 3rd June. I toured the whole Assam, from Dibrugarh to Bongaigaon. I feasted like a beast and slept like 'Kumbhkarn'. One interesting incident happened and I just cant resisit writing abt it. My younger sis is working in Regional Research Laboratory, Jorhat. So I went to meet her. As she stays in shared accomodation I went for a hotel. I know about the weird rules of hotels of small place. So this time I decided that I would be staying in the finest hotel available. So I went to 'Hotel Paradise'. A three star(according to all the billboards) and very old and prestigious hotel. I gave my introduction, I told them I was coming from Pune. I reahced the hotel at around 4 oclock. I called up my sis and told her to come to the hotel to meet me. I had some gifts for her. She came to the hotel lobby and called me up. I went down and was just coming back to room with her then the most bizzare incident happened. The manager started shouting from the reception ' Ladies are not allowed in the rooms!'. I said she is my sis. He said 'Still NO'.He said if you want you ppl can have talk in the restaurent or lobby but not in room. I was shocked. And all the ppl there were looking at me with a crooked smile in their faces.(As if some of my sinster idea has been foiled by the ever alert manager). As my sis was with me I didnot say much. We sat in the restaurent. I brought all the gifts and all from my room to the restaurent to give to her.
I was really shocked by the behavier of a manager of the hotel. I have visited numerous hotels in score of places. I had friends visiting me, I never faced an incident like this.
I understand many hotels have their own rules, but there should be a little decency of conveying this to the guests, you dont make your guests feel embarassed.
I am never going back to that hotel(HOTEL PARADISE) again in my life, and also advise other ppl to to do so...
